Petrogas, Ireland's leading independent forecourt retailer, have opened their second UK Applegreen format service station in Corby, Northamptonshire. The station which is the first to offer a full hot and cold deli also comprises of a coffee shop and a wine cellar while also stocking a good range of food products and flowers. 

BÄ.RO, renowned retail lighting specialist were delighted to be involved in creating and implementing the perfect lighting solution for Applegreen. This was to create a high quality customer experience, use the correct light to enhance and protect the products on display and reinforce the Applegreen brand through the appliance of light. 

With an open ceiling design their lighting brief was to create an aesthetically pleasing low maintenance energy efficient lighting solution that also provided the correct store ambience and visual comfort for their customers.

This resulted in BÄ.RO using a selection of their award-winning batwing fixtures, product-specific down-lights over the fresh food counters, and attractive feature pendants in the customer seating area to create an effective and innovative lighting solution.

“Lighting any retail environment is a careful balance of creating the right ambience for the customer, using the right light source for the product on display and reinforcing the brand through the appliance of light.
By choosing the optimum combination of light source and luminaire distribution from within the BÄ.RO range, we were able to ensure that the appropriate emphasis was given to each of these elements within the shop, ensuring that both client and shopper were satisfied with retail experience.”

BÄ.RO worked with Applegreen’s project manager Niall Burnell and fit-out specialists PROFILE shop fitting right from the drawing board to commissioning the final lighting installation as this is very much part of the equation in correctly achieving the original design whilst also problem solving any practical issues.
