Press Release July 2008 - New Garden Centre Blooms with BARO Lighting @nd 2008

BÄ.RO Lighting, through Greenway Electrical Ltd., were delighted to supply the new lighting solution for the Farm Shop element of the north west region’s most famous garden centre, Barton Grange based in Brock on the outskirts of Preston, Lancashire. The site has been greatly extended in a multi-million pound project to include one of the most prestigious food halls in the UK. The whole complex, measuring many thousands of square feet, was officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal on 10 June 2008.

The flagship nursery and garden centre includes a brand new food hall known as The Farm Shop at Barton Grange that has a butchery by renowned locals Honeywell Meats and a high class bakery from Lathams of Broughton. It also stocks fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen food, preserves, pickles, fine food specialities and locally brewed beers which are sourced from the best suppliers in the UK.

BÄ.RO Lighting was chosen for its reputation as the leader in the field of fresh food lighting and supplied a combination of fixtures, lamps and accessories to illuminate the shop to look its absolute best, whilst ensuring that the light was also gentle on the goods to prolong their shelf life.

The Garden Centre’s Riverside café offers a lovely view over the River Brock and surrounding countryside and is designed to give diners a feel of the great outdoors. The Centre also includes the trendy Willows Restaurant for those wishing to dine in this stunning environment.

It is a major trend in the retail industry to use lighting as a mood-setting tool. The latest technology provides a host of options to create different atmospheres for different retail areas, effectively creating stores within stores that draw in customers and offer a more exciting shopping experience.

Ron Coleman, Business Development Director of BÄ.RO Lighting is proud of the result, saying, “BÄ.RO products and design provide the perfect solution for retail outlets that have multiple product and display variations. The lamp types were kept to a minimum and used in conjunction with BÄ.RO’s famous reflector and filter technology to really enhance and protect the fresh products. Our lighting solutions are cost effective from the start in that fewer fixtures are required to achieve brilliant results like these. In the longer term, lower electricity bills and the need for fewer replacement lamps mean that retailers are more profitable.”

The Barton Grange Group of companies dates back to 1945 and now, sixty years later, boasts three large nurseries, a hotel and conference centre, an award-winning landscaping business and two garden centres. The Group’s success is a true reflection of the passion and dedication of its owners, the Topping family.
