Press Releease - New LED Technology from BÄ.RO Lighting 9th Jul 2010

As more retailers come to understand the importance of a carbon footprint, BÄ.RO Lighting is proving to be a key partner in addressing the strategic and practical issues facing them. The solutions offered, specially geared at the challenges facing supermarkets today, not only cover energy reduction, efficiency and contributing to a decrease in CO² emissions, but also new efficient optics, performance lamps, luminaires and sophisticated LED solutions.

Thanks to their minaturisation, longlife time, efficiency and sustainability, the arrival of LED’s has paved the way for innovative lighting concepts. With an average service life of 40,000 – 50,000 hours the trend-setting LED technology from BÄ.RO is almost maintenance-free and generally enables energy savings of up to 50% compared with conventional discharge lamps, whilst providing a comparable visual lighting level. In addition, the LED technology boasts excellent colour rendering (> 90), emits no UV or infrared and only minimum heat to the products on display and the salesroom. This reduces the electricity costs for air conditioning and product cooling. Maximum product protection is guaranteed – also for sensitive products such as textiles or leather goods.

With the new BÄ.RO LED food light concept fresh foodstuffs can now also be illuminated with product-specific, low-impact LED light for the first time. In addition to the afore-mentioned advantages of LED technology, the new development has a special light colour tailored to the product in question. This enables products to be shown to best advantage with optimisation of their natural colours whilst also protecting it from any heat load.

Terry Byrne of BÄ.RO boasts “ We are delighted that we are undertaking the first installations of our new LED Luminaires in UK and Ireland with already some very successful installations in mainland Europe – this is the direction that retail lighting is going in the future”.
